Bryant helps No. 21 Oklahoma State beat up Aggies

Stillwater, OK (Sports Network) - Dez Bryant scored four touchdowns, and the Oklahoma State defense scored two more, as the 21st-ranked Cowboys defeated the Texas A&M Aggies, 56-28, in Big 12 action at Lewis Stadium.

Bryant caught three touchdown passes and returned a punt for another score, compiling 106 yards receiving on five catches for Oklahoma State (5-0, 1-0 Big 12), who snapped a four-game losing streak to the Aggies. Quarterback Zac Robinson completed 10-of-13 throws for 186 yards and three scores, and also ran for 66 yards and two touchdowns.

Ugo Chinasa and Patrick Lavine each returned an interception for a score for the Cowboys.

"Turnovers are what wins games," said Lavine. "They make up for a lot of mistakes on defense. It's just another way to get our offense the ball. It is especially helpful for the kind of offense we have."

Mike Goodson ran for 112 yards on eight carries with two scores for the Aggies (2-3, 0-1). Jerrod Johnson went 24-of-43 passing for 218 yards, with two touchdowns and two costly interceptions. Ryan Tannehill caught seven passes for 49 yards and two touchdowns.

"I think we played a great game, defensively and offensively," said Goodson. "We just made a ton of mistakes. We didn't really deserve to win in my eyes. We just turned the ball over and over again, something we are going to have to work on."

Oklahoma State got on the board first thanks to its defense. The Aggies had just made a goal-line stand, stopping the Cowboys on 4th-and-goal from the one-yard line. But on an ensuing 3rd-and-7 from the four, Johnson was intercepted by Chinasa, who took it back for a six-yard touchdown and a 7-0 lead with 8:26 left in the opening frame.

Following a punt, Robinson got the Cowboys' offense some points, finishing a six-play 41-yard drive with a 29-yard touchdown pass to Bryant for a 14-0 lead.

The Cowboys' special teams made it 21-0, as Bryant took a punt back 78 yards to the end zone with 1:59 to go in the first.

Texas A&M answered immediately, however, as Goodson ran the Aggies' first play of their next drive 80 yards for the score, cutting the deficit to 14.

But Oklahoma State's defense came up big again, as Lavine intercepted a Johnson pass and returned it 22 yards for a touchdown with 1:51 remaining in the first half to make it 28-7 at the break.

Bryant scored his third touchdown of the game on the Cowboys' opening drive of the second half, catching a 23-yard strike from Robinson to extend the lead to 28 just 3 1/2 minutes into the third.

The Aggies responded, as Johnson converted two third downs and a fourth down to lead a 12-play, 60-yard drive. The set ended when Johnson found Tannehill in the end zone from six yards out with 5:06 left in the quarter.

On the Cowboys' ensuing drive, they had a 4th-and-3 deep in Aggies territory, but a five-yard penalty gave Oklahoma State new life. On the very next play, Robinson took it in the end zone for a six-yard score and a 42-14 lead with 2:19 remaining in the third quarter.

After a fumble late in the quarter, the Aggies took over at the Cowboys' 26- yard line. A few plays later on 4th-and-2, Johnson found Jeff Fuller for a seven-yard completion, and Goodson punched it in from 11 yards out with 14:04 to play.

A 56-yard return on the next kickoff by Perrish Cox put the Cowboys in position to score, and Robinson found Bryant again for a 21-yard touchdown three plays later. The Aggies were able to score again on a four-yard touchdown reception from Tannehill, and Oklahoma State added a late touchdown on a seven-yard run by Robinson to account for the final margin.
