Peerman rushed for 118 yards on 25 carries for the Cavaliers (5-3, 3-1 ACC), who have won four in a row and ascended into first place in the Coastal Division by a half-game. Marc Verica completed 29-of-39 passes for two touchdowns but was intercepted twice.
"I'm almost uncomfortable talking about him, because there is nothing I can say about Cedric that would do him justice to anybody who saw it with their own eyes," gushed Virginia head coach Al Groh. "His play just speaks for itself."
Maurice Covington added five receptions for 76 yards and a score for Virginia.
Josh Nesbitt rushed for a touchdown but threw for just 103 yards on 7-of-15 completions with a pick for the Yellow Jackets (6-2, 3-2), whose four-game win streak ended after the team wasted an early 14-3 lead.
Jonathan Dwyer picked up 70 yards and a TD on the ground on 17 carries.
Virginia began the fourth quarter with the ball and a three point lead, but Verica was sacked and fumbled on a 3rd-and-7. Derrick Morgan recovered the ball for Tech back at the Cavs' 31 and Scott Blair drilled a 39-yarder to tie the game 17-17, with 7:34 left in regulation.
The Cavaliers responded by going 70 yards in eight plays to take a 24-17 lead on Peerman's three-yard run with 3:29 to play.
Georgia Tech survived a 4th-and-6 from its own 45 and gained a first down on a completion to Demaryius Thomas across midfield, but on the next play, Nesbitt was picked off by Hall at the Virginia 43-yard-line.
Verica took a knee on three plays to melt away the remaining time and give the Cavaliers the victory.
"I'm really disappointed. We made enough mistakes in about every area to lose the game twice over," said Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson. "We turned the ball over three times on offense. You have to give them (Virginia) credit. They came in here and did what they had to do to win the game. We didn't get it done."
Virginia picked up the game's first points on the opening possession of the contest with a 25-yard field goal from Yannick Reyering.
Georgia Tech responded on the following series, as Nesbitt capped a 73-yard, 11-play drive with a one-yard plunge.
On the Cavs' next drive, Verica was picked off by Morgan Burnett who took the ball to the Virginia 45. Two plays later Dwyer's three-yard run staked the home team to a 14-3 advantage.
The visitors crept back within 14-10 on a 12-play drive which saw Verica hit Kevin Ogletree for a 12-yard TD with 3:43 played in the second quarter.
Virginia drove across midfield at the end of the half but were unable to put points on the board and the Yellow Jackets remained up by four.
A Nesbitt fumble on the initial drive of the second half gave Virginia the ball at its own 46. Four plays later Covington hauled in a beautiful 34-yard throw from Verica for a 17-14 game.
