Sanchez completed 21-of-36 passes and was picked off once, and Stafon Johnson ran 19 times for 83 yards and a touchdown for the Trojans (6-1, 4-1 Pac-10), who have beaten the Wildcats in the last seven meetings. They've won four straight overall.
Willie Tuitama connected on 14-of-30 passes for 88 yards and was picked off once for Arizona (5-3, 3-2). Nic Grigsby rushed for 69 yards and the lone touchdown for the Wildcats.
Sanchez was sacked and fumbled, giving the ball to the Wildcats at the USC 15 in the opening minute of the third quarter. Grigsby scored on a five-yard run to tie the game at 10-10.
USC came right back with Sanchez finding Havili alone on the right side of the field for the go-ahead TD.
David Buehler missed a 30-yard field goal for USC with 10:35 left in the game, but Arizona was forced to punt. Later in the quarter, the Wildcats went for it on 4th-and-1, but Tuitama was stopped at the Arizona 47, short of the marker, giving the ball back to the Trojans with 5:55 remaining.
Each team punted one more time, and the Trojans got the ball back with 2:57 remaining, and ran out nearly all of the remaining time before punting. On the return, the Wildcats used a lateral play to get the ball to the USC 34, but Derick Barkum was tackled to end the game.
Johnson's 54-yard punt return early in the first quarter set up USC at the Arizona 25, and Buehler kicked a 43-yard field goal.
Arizona tied the game on Jason Bondzio's 30-yard field goal early in the second, but Johnson scored on a two-yard run to cap an 80-yard drive with 5:03 remaining in the half.
Bondzio missed a 48-yard field goal try with two seconds left in the half.
Game Notes
Damian Williams had five receptions for 77 yards, and Havili caught five balls for 67 for the Trojans...Arizona was limited to 188 yards of total offense...USC hosts winless Washington next Saturday, while Arizona's next game is Nov. 8 at Washington State.
