Wins over previously top-ranked Oklahoma and then-11th-ranked Missouri preceded a 28-24 win over then-No. 7 Oklahoma State on Saturday, allowing the 8-0 Longhorns (0.9981) to stay atop each of the three polls that determine the standings.
The BCS system uses a pair of human polls -- the Harris Interactive and the USA Today -- as well as six computer rankings. Each poll counts one-third toward the overall score, while the average of the computers completes the formula.
Alabama (0.9499), also a perfect 8-0 after knocking off Tennessee on Saturday, is ranked second in the standings and across the three polls, while Penn State (0.9257) is third overall across the three polls, improving their standing considerably with a hard-fought win against then-No. 10 Ohio State in Columbus.
The Nittany Lions, who have won all nine of their games this season, were ranked seventh in the computers poll before their latest win.
The Sooners (0.8270) followed their lone loss against Texas two weeks prior with consecutive wins against Kansas and Kansas State to remain in the fourth position.
USC (0.7822) also stayed put in the fifth position after edging Arizona 17-10, while Georgia (0.7703) moved up one spot to sixth following a resounding victory over then-No. 13 LSU at Tiger Stadium.
The high-powered attack of undefeated Texas Tech (0.7431) moved up to the seventh spot after crushing Kansas in Lawrence, but still sits behind three one-loss teams in Oklahoma, USC and Georgia.
Florida (0.7295) advanced two spots to eighth with a drubbing of Kentucky, while Oklahoma State (0.6746) fell from the sixth spot to No. 9 after suffering its first loss, albeit to top-ranked Texas.
BCS-busters Utah (0.6698) and Boise State (0.6362) elevated themselves one spot each to 10 and 11, respectively, by remaining unbeaten, while Ohio State (0.5373), dropped three spots with the loss to Penn State, but is the highest- ranked two-loss team.
A pair of games slated for Saturday will have implications on next week's rankings, as Florida battles Georgia in Jacksonville and Texas continues its brutal schedule with a visit to Texas Tech.
