Brandon Saine ran for 113 yards on 17 carries and DeVier Posey caught four passes for 51 yards and a touchdown as Ohio State (4-1, 2-0 Big Ten) outgained Indiana 378-228 in total yardage. Indiana has held to 18 yards on the ground while the Buckeyes rushed for 219 yards.
Ben Chappell led the Hoosiers (3-2, 0-2) on 20-of-34 passing for 210 yards and two scores with two interceptions. Tandon Doss caught six passes for 96 yards and a score.
"We went three-and-out too much to be able to get into a good rhythm," said CHappell. "In the no-huddle offense you cannot go three-and-out and expect to win. And you can't turn the ball over. Those two things are not good and we have to fix that."
Ohio State scored on its first two possessions of the game. On the opening drive of the contest, the Buckeyes moved from their own 30-yard line to inside Indiana's 30. The Hoosiers held Ohio State to a 46-yard field goal by Aaron Pettrey with 12:10 left in the first quarter.
The Buckeyes next drive resulted in a five-yard scoring pass from Pryor to Duron Carter to make the score 10-0 with 7:29 remaining in the opening quarter.
Doss fumbled after making a reception, giving Ohio State the ball at its own 45. An illegal participation penalty against the Hoosiers allowed the Buckeyes to keep possession during the drive. But Pettrey missed on a 35-yard field goal attempt with less then a minute remaining in the first quarter.
On the ensuing possession, Indiana scored on a seven-yard pass from Chappell to Doss with 12:50 left in the first half.
But the Buckeyes didn't waste any time on the next drive. Pryor hooked up with Posey on a 23-yard touchdown pass with 11:46 remaining.
Ohio State eventually got the ball back when defensive lineman Todd Denlinger intercepted a Chappell pass and returned it 14 yards to the Hoosiers' 38 yard line. The drive ended with Pryor connecting with Zach Boren on an eight-yard scoring pass with 1:10 remaining.
The Buckeyes took a 24-7 lead into the locker room.
Indiana got the ball to start the second half, but Ohio State's Anderson Russell intercepted Chappell at the Buckeyes' 29 yard line and returned it 16 yards to the 45 to end the drive. Ohio State could not take advantage of the turnover and punted to the Hoosiers' five yard line.
The only points in the third came on a Hoosier safety when a bad snap to Indiana punter Chris Hagerup forced him into the end zone where he was tackled by Rob Rose with 8:22 left in the quarter.
Ohio State's lone rushing score came on a one-yard sneak by Pryor with 12:05 remaining in the game.
On their next possession the Buckeyes drove to the Indiana four yard line. After Pryor fumbled the ball where it was recovered by Ohio State at the 25, the Buckeye quarterback was picked off by Indiana's Chris Adkins who returned it to his 10 yard line. The Hoosiers were unable to move the ball and had to punt with less than three minutes to play.
The game ended with Chappell hitting Matt Ernest with a five-yard scoring strike.
Game Notes
Ohio State holds a commanding 66-12-5 series lead over Indiana, which includes 15 straight wins versus the Hoosiers. Next Saturday Indiana travels to Charlottesville for a non-conference tilt with the Virginia Cavaliers. The Buckeyes will host the Wisconsin Badgers next week.
