Davis gained 176 yards on 22 carries for the Razorbacks (5-2, 2-2 SEC), who bounced back from last week's 65-43 loss at Auburn. Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett completed 13-of-24 passes for 196 yards Saturday after a concussion forced him from the loss to the Tigers. He threw a touchdown and one interception.
"I was real proud of how we finished the game running the ball," Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino said. "Knile did a great job running the football, but our offensive line did a great job blocking for him."
Jeremiah Masoli threw for 327 yards with three touchdowns and picked up 98 yards on the ground for Ole Miss (3-4, 1-3).
The game was interrupted with 5:06 remaining in the third quarter and play resumed after a 58-minute delay.
In the fourth quarter, Masoli and Markeith Summers hooked up for a pair of touchdowns -- 43 and 22 yards -- sandwiched around a 71-yard dash to the end zone by Davis. Masoli's second TD pass to Summers drew Ole Miss within seven with 9:04 remaining. Following another weather-related stoppage, Davis sealed the win with a 22-yard scoring run.
It was an unsettling start for Mallett, who was picked off by Allen Walker on Arkansas' first offensive play of the game.
The Rebels started the ensuing drive from the Arkansas 28-yard line, but Jerico Nelson recovered a Masoli fumble on third down to set the Razorbacks up at the 35.
"We've been a team like this all year; we had too many missed opportunities," Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt said. "When you get an opportunity like the interception in the first quarter, you have to take advantage of it and get them down. We've been consistent at doing that where we don't play together, offense, defense and special teams. We have glimpses of really good things for a young group. In this league, you have to take advantage."
Mallett completed a 46-yard pass to D.J. Williams on 2nd-and-10. A face mask penalty on the play placed the ball at the Mississippi nine. Three consecutive runs by Davis resulted in a 7-0 lead for Arkansas.
The Razorbacks got the ball back after a punt and Greg Childs hauled in a 23- yard touchdown pass from Mallet with 4:33 remaining in the opening quarter.
Arkansas' lead grew to 21-0 in the second stanza when Joe Adams returned a Tyler Campbell punt 97 yards for a touchdown. Bryson Rose put Ole Miss on the board by booting a 22-yard field goal with 1:40 left before halftime.
Following the break, Zach Hocker converted a 46-yard field goal on Arkansas' first second-half possession.
The Rebels needed just three plays to score a touchdown on their next series. After a Masoli pass fell to the turf on first down, Jeff Scott ran for 45 yards before being tackled at the Arkansas 18. Ja-Mes Logan then caught a pass in the end zone, trimming Ole Miss' deficit to 24-10.
Game Notes
The Rebels fell to 5-4 in their last nine games against ranked opponents...Arkansas leads the all-time series 31-25-1...The Razorbacks limited the Rebels to 4-of-17 conversions on third down...Ole Miss outgained Arkansas in total offensive yards, 512-464.
