Rucker had missed the last two games after being arrested on October 10 in East Lansing and charged with drunk driving. He pled guilty to a lesser charge of reckless driving and served eight days in jail before being released on Thursday.
Less than a year ago, Rucker was involved in an on-campus fight that resulted in a sentence of 12 months probation and 150 hours of community service.
"Our decision to immediately reinstate Chris has been endorsed by the team's unity council and the program at-large," Dantonio said."This was a difficult decision. After much soul searching and dialogue with those who are vested in the program, I am comfortable and confident in the decision I had made."
The Warren, Ohio native made 40 tackles and intercepted one pass in the first six games of the season.
Dantonio implemented a "zero tolerance" policy last year after a November 22 incident that resulted in the suspension of eight players, including Rucker.
"I have been asked about last year's statement regarding zero tolerance. Zero tolerance means exactly that. We have no tolerance for Chris L. Rucker's actions. I repeat, I have no tolerance for his actions," Dantonio explained. "He was immediately suspended. He has served his civil punishment, and there are other internal disciplinary measures nobody will know about outside the program. Again, zero tolerance does not mean automatic dismissal.
"I have known and have watched Chris L. Rucker for four years on the field, in the classroom, in the community and as a team member," Dantonio continued. "The poor decision he made had need for serious consequences which he has now met and resolved from a team and legal perspective."
