Texas A&M edges No. 19 Missouri

College Station, TX (Sports Network) - Jorvorskie Lane rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown, as Texas A&M edged No. 19 Missouri, 25-19, in a tight battle at Kyle Field.

Mike Goodson ended with 65 yards on the ground and scored the deciding touchdown for the Aggies (6-1, 2-1 Big 12), who edged Kansas last week.

Stephen McGee was an efficient 19-of-23 for 183 yards with a touchdown, while Kerry Franks hauled in three receptions for 115 yards in the win.

Chase Daniel finished 21-of-29 for 295 yards with a score for the Tigers (6-1, 2-1), who were coming off a 38-21 win over Texas Tech. William Franklin had four catches for 119 yards and a TD.

Texas A&M put together a 13-play, 80-yard scoring drive in the third quarter that ate up 5:52 of clock and put the Aggies ahead, 25-19. They deployed an option left from the two-yard line, with Goodson taking the pitch from McGee before scampering just inside the pylon. The home team decided to go for two and ran an option right this time, as McGee kept it and slid into the end zone.

Missouri nearly moved in front early in the fourth, working its way all the way down to the A&M four before the Aggies defense stiffened and forced a fourth down. In a questionable play call, Missouri took a delay of game, set up for a field goal and then ran a fake. Holder Brad Ekwerekwu was stopped at the six for a turnover on downs.

The Texas A&M defense held for the remainder of the contest to preserve the victory.

The Aggies opened up the scoring with 5:30 remaining in the opening quarter, as Layne Neumann booted a 23-yard field goal to finish off a 15-play, 74-yard drive.

Missouri took the ensuing kickoff and marched 73 yards on seven plays to move in front. Tony Temple sparked the drive with a 15-yard run on first down, and ran in from five yards out moments later.

Texas A&M fired back on its next possession to take a 10-7 lead. McGee and Franks connected for a 67-yard pass to move the offense deep into Missouri territory, and Lane plowed in from a yard out two plays later with 24 seconds left in the first quarter.

The back-and-forth action continued in the second frame, as Daniel hit Franklin for a 38-yard TD strike to give the Tigers a 14-10 edge.

Missouri lost a fumble midway through the second quarter, however, and A&M took over at its opponent's 23. The offense cashed in shortly after courtesy of McGee's six-yard pass to Chris Alexander.

Jeff Wolfert hit a 39-yard field goal with under a minute to play to send the game into halftime knotted at 17-17.

The Tigers defense made an impact early in the third quarter, dropping McGee for a 17-yard sack in the end zone to give A&M a short-lived lead.

Game Notes

No. 19 is the highest a Gary Pinkel-led Tiger team has been ranked (the previous high was 22 in 2003)...Mizzou has played one other time in its history as a ranked team against Texas A&M, and that game also took place in College Station, as the 13th-ranked Tigers dropped a 17-14 heartbreaker to sixth-ranked A&M back in 1998.
