Matt Ryan threw for 262 yards on 16-of-26 passing with one interception and linebacker Brian Toal scored a rushing touchdown for the Eagles (6-1, 3-1 ACC), who have won three straight.
L.V. Whitworth rushed for 53 yards and a score on 18 carries in the victory.
Drew Weatherford completed 32 of his 48 passes for 326 yards with one passing and one rushing touchdown, but two interceptions for the Seminoles (4-3, 2-3 ACC), who have lost two of their last three.
Chris Davis hauled in 10 passes for 100 yards and Greg Carr had 41 yards on three catches and a score in the loss. Lorenzo Booker added 75 yards on eight receptions.
After a scoreless first quarter, Florida State took a 3-0 lead courtesy of a 28-yard field goal by Gary Cismesia 1:32 into the second quarter.
The Seminoles received great field position after Roger Williams intercepted a Ryan pass at his own 30 and ran it all the way down to Boston College's 32- yard line. Weatherford's 10-yard completion to Booker on 3rd-and-16 setup Cismesia's boot.
On Florida State's next possession, Caz Piurowski hauled in a short pass near the sideline, but Boston College's Sulaiman Sanni forced Piurowski to cough up the ball and Wes Davis recovered it and ran 14 yards to the Seminoles' one- yard line. On 2nd-and-goal, Toal punched it in on second effort to give the Eagles a 7-3 edge with 6:07 left in the half.
The Seminoles made right on their previous turnover, though, as Weatherford's 22-yard touchdown pass to Carr capped a six-play, 79-yard drive with just over four minutes to play in the second. The big play of the possession came on 2nd-and-5 when Booker scampered 43 yards before Carr put Florida State up by three.
The Eagles answered back and took a 14-10 lead on Whitworth's six-yard rushing score. The eight-play, 73-yard march was helped by a 15-yard personal foul penalty on Florida State during a punt, which gave Boston College a fresh set of downs. Ryan then completed three passes for 48 yards en route to Whitworth's touchdown.
Just 31 seconds later and 20 seconds until halftime, Tribble picked off Weatherford pass and took it 36 yards to the end zone to give Boston College a 21-10 advantage.
Midway through the third quarter, Steve Aponavicius split the uprights with a 26-yard chip shot that completed a 10-play, 64-yard drive and gave the Eagles a 14-point lead.
Weatherford brought the Seminoles to within seven 1:24 into the fourth on a one-yard QB sneak after leading his team 55 yards down the field. He completed passes of 14, 15 and 19 yards during the scoring march.
With under 27 seconds left to play, Eagles' punter Johnny Ayers took a safety in the end zone to ensure that Florida State wouldn't receive good field position, and with one last chance to score, Weatherford's long heave into the end zone was intercepted by Larry Anam to end the game.
Game Notes
Boston College outgained Florida State in total yards, 354-322...Weatherford rushed 13 times for 12 yards...Florida State's Antone Smith had six catches for 62 yards...The Seminoles still hold the series lead, 3-2.
