With the game tied 20-20 late in the fourth quarter, Oklahoma State took the lead on a 60-yard touchdown run by Dantrell Savage, but with three seconds left in the game, Stephen McGee found Joey Thomas for a two-yard TD pass that capped an 11-play, 65-yard drive to send the game into overtime.
In the extra frame, the Aggies received the ball first and scored on Lane's one-yard TD run. On Oklahoma's ensuing possession, Zac Robinson hit Adarius Bowman for a 15-yard TD, but Red Bryant blocked the PAT and Texas A&M escaped with the victory.
McGee finished 17-of-26 passing for 192 yards with two touchdowns and also rushed for 86 yards on 17 carries for the Aggies (7-1, 3-1 Big 12), who have won three straight.
Martellus Bennett and Joey Thomas each had a touchdown reception in the victory.
Dantrell Savage ran for 134 yards on 13 carries and a touchdown while Mike Hamilton added 50 yards on the ground and a score for the Cowboys (4-3, 1-2 Big 12), who have lost three of four contests.
Robinson threw for just 94 yards on 7-of-16 passing with three touchdowns and Bowman finished with two scores on just three catches for 48 yards.
Texas A&M took a 3-0 lead on its first possession courtesy of a 23-yard field goal by Layne Neumann. The 12-play, 74-yard march was highlighted by a 40-yard reception by Bennett.
Oklahoma State responded on the ensuing drive when Hamilton punched it in from one-yard out to give the Cowboys a three-point edge with 3:41 left in the first quarter. Cole Reynolds' rush attempt on the two-point conversion failed.
Bennett's 10-yard touchdown catch with 1:18 to play in the second gave the Aggies a 10-6 lead. The possession, which started on Oklahoma State's 31, was advanced by an 11-yard run by McGee and a 10-yard catch by Chad Schroeder.
In the third quarter, the Cowboys orchestrated a nine-play, 67-yard scoring march that culminated in a 12-yard TD pass from Robinson to John Johnson to go up by three with 11:08 remaining.
Texas A&M tied the game, 13-13, when Neumann's 20-yard boot split the uprights after the Aggies drove 47 yards in just over five minutes. McGee had two rushes for 20 yards to keep the possession moving.
Later on in the frame, McGee fumbled during a rushing attempt and Oklahoma State's Nathan Peterson recovered the ball at the Aggies' 39. After Robinson connected with D'Juan Woods for a 19-yard gain on 3rd-and-12, he found Adarius Bowman for a 22-yard touchdown, giving the Cowboys a seven-point advantage with 53 seconds left in the third.
Lane's two-yard TD run knotted the game, 20-20, for Texas A&M with 10:28 to play. The 11-play, 80-yard possession ate up 5:25 of clock and was highlighted by rushes of 21 yards by Mike Goodson and McGee.
