Players who were involved for their part in the brawl will perform the assignments in conjunction with the Greater Miami Athletic Conference, which is a grouping of 30 local high schools.
Among the selected activities are: the selection of and consistent involvement by suspended players with a particular charity, after-school visits to schools and community centers throughout South Florida, renewed dedication to the "Join a Team, Not a Gang" program alongside the Miami-Dade Police Department, and involvement with other community outreach programs such as those dealing with the homeless.
Each of these programs aim to reinforce the importance of sportsmanship to both Hurricane players and the young student-athletes. The team began its foray into the community on Thursday with a visit to a local homeless outreach center.
