Pac-12 suspends 10 players after fight

Walnut Creek, CA (Sports Network) - The Pac-12 Conference issued suspensions to 10 student-athletes after an altercation during the first half of Thursday's Arizona-UCLA football game on Friday.

A fan, dressed as a referee, ran onto the field just before halftime and sparked a bench-clearing melee.

UCLA senior wide receiver Taylor Embree and Arizona sophomore cornerback Shaquille Richardson were tossed from the game for their involvement in the scuffle.

The players were also issued an additional one-game suspension based on further review of game footage by the Pac-12.

"The Conference is extremely disappointed in the actions of the student- athletes involved in this incident. It is unacceptable behavior and violated Conference rules, as well as NCAA fighting rules," Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott said in a statement. "I have taken these actions today because it is imperative that we hold our student-athletes and coaches to the highest standards of sportsmanship."

The Pac-12 also issued one-game suspensions to UCLA sophomore wide receivers Randall Carroll, Shaq Evans and Ricky Marvray, as well as Arizona freshman cornerback Jourdon Grandon.

UCLA sophomore defensive tackle Cassius Marsh received a two-game suspension, and UCLA sophomore guard Alberto Cid and Arizona senior cornerback Lyle Brown and junior safety Mark Watley each were given a half-game suspension.
