LSU stayed in the top spot, receiving 47 first-place votes and a total of 1,439 points. Alabama is still No. 2 with a total of 10 first-place votes and 1,401 points from a nationwide media panel.
Both teams did not play this past weekend, but are set up for a heavyweight matchup Saturday in Tuscaloosa.
Oklahoma State, Stanford and Boise State -- which received the final first- place tally -- remained third through fifth, respectively.
The rest of the top 10 was jumbled because of a host of losses this past weekend. Clemson dropped five places to 11th after losing at Georgia Tech, 31-17, while Michigan State fell six places to 15th after being shut down, 24-3, at Nebraska.
Kansas State, ranked 10th last week, suffered its first defeat of the season -- a 58-17 home loss against Oklahoma -- and fell seven places.
That allowed Oregon to rise one place to sixth and Oklahoma to climb four spots to seventh. Arkansas stayed at No. 8, while No. 9 Nebraska and No. 10 South Carolina both moved up four spots.
The second 10 consists of Clemson, Virginia Tech, Michigan, Houston, Michigan State, Penn State, Kansas State, Georgia, Wisconsin, and Arizona State.
Wisconsin tumbled further down the poll after a 33-29 loss at Ohio State. The Badgers were ranked fourth two weeks ago, but a final-play loss to Michigan State on October 22 dropped them to 12th. Following the defeat against the Buckeyes, they're now 19th.
USC, Georgia Tech, Cincinnati, West Virginia and Auburn round out the top-25. Georgia Tech and Auburn are new to the poll this week.
