White ran 22 times for 156 yards with a score and completed 10-of-16 passes for 144 yards, as West Virginia (7-1, 2-1 Big East) dominated from the outset on the way to its 13th straight win over the Scarlet Knights.
Slaton ran for 73 yards and three scores on 16 carries and helped set up a touchdown with a 51-yard catch.
Ray Rice did his part for Rutgers with 142 yards on 30 carries, but Mike Teel threw for just 128 yards on 14-of-30 passing with a pair of interceptions. Teel didn't get much help from his receivers, who dropped numerous passes.
"It's very obvious the things we didn't do today," said Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano. "We didn't tackle well and we didn't catch the football. We dropped too many passes to count, and some of them were touchdowns."
The Scarlet Knights (5-3, 2-2), coming off a 30-27 victory over then-No. 2 South Florida nine days ago, haven't beaten West Virginia since 1994.
West Virginia scored on its second possession to take an early lead, as Slaton took a handoff, cut back to the right side of the field and raced to the end zone for a 38-yard touchdown.
The Mountaineers were driving on their next series, but were forced to punt after a shotgun snap sailed over the head of White for a 23-yard loss. Pat McAfee's punt then hit the back of a Rutgers player and West Virginia recovered at the Scarlet Knights' 31.
It took White just five plays to put his team in the end zone again. After the quarterback ran for 19 yards on the first play, he soon after converted 3rd- and-6 with a seven-yard run to set up a first down at the one. White again called his own number and lost control of the ball just before crossing the goal line, but was able to fall on it in the end zone to make it 14-0 early in the second quarter.
Rutgers answered with its first real threat, but Tiquan Underwood failed to hold on to a pass in the end zone after taking a hard hit and Jeremy Ito came on to kick a 39-yard field goal.
McAfee then drilled a 42-yard field goal as time expired in the first half to extend the West Virginia lead back to 14 points.
The Scarlet Knights stopped the Mountaineers with the opening possession of the third quarter and marched to the West Virginia 14, but a holding penalty during a Rice run that would have produced a first down was followed by consecutive incomplete passes. Ito then missed a 41-yard field goal try with 7:17 to play in the period.
West Virginia followed with a 75-yard drive for a touchdown. White keyed the series with a 51-yard pass to Slaton, who finished the nine-play march with a one-yard touchdown run for a 24-3 cushion.
Rutgers mounted a drive from its own one-yard line early in the fourth quarter and reached the West Virginia 37, but a fourth-down pass was intercepted by Franchot Allen.
The Mountaineers responded with another touchdown drive. White ran for seven yards on 3rd-and-1 to keep it alive early, then broke free for 50 yards down the left sideline before Slaton scored on a six-yard run to increase the lead to 31-3.
Ryan Mundy ended Rutgers' bid for a touchdown on the next Scarlet Knights possession, intercepting Teel at the goal line.
Game Notes
West Virginia improved to 29-4-2 against Rutgers...The Scarlet Knights fell to 2-26 all-time against top-10 teams, although they had won their previous two -- South Florida last week and Louisville last year...Rice became the first Rutgers player to record three 1,000-yard rushing seasons.
