Kelso Sturgeon has been a professional handicapper for 40 years and has a deep understanding of all facets of the game, be it football, basketball, baseball or horse racing. He's worked as a football scout in the SEC and studied under Hall of Fame coaches like Alabama's Bear Bryant, winner of five national titles and Hank Stram of the Kansas City Chiefs, who won the 1970 Super Bowl. He's been a Regional Sports Editor for the Associated Press, worked as a successful jockey agent and authored several books teaching people how to be a handicapper, including the bestseller, THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO SPORTS BETTING. Kelso also understands that to be a successful handicapper means knowing the business of gambling, and to that end he is personal friends with most of the big linesmakers in Las Vegas and gets the daily scoop on what is happening on the other side of the counter. There is no one better qualifed to be your personal handicapper than Kelso Sturgeon.

That big question will be determined for some on Saturday in the Southern Conference title race. Top-ranked Appalachian State will host No, 19 Elon, while No. 21 Wofford will visit No. 16 Georgia Southern in a pair of key games within The Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS Top 25.
Both home teams have had two weeks of preparation because of a bye in last weekend's schedule.
Appalachian State (4-0, 2-0) is in pursuit of its sixth straight conference crown and sits in first place. Elon (2-3, 1-1) was the runner-up to the Mountaineers last season and would fall from being a realistic title contender if it doesn't pull an upset in Boone, N.C.
The game is a matchup of two of the more dynamic quarterbacks in the Football Championship Subdivision. Elon's Scott Riddle is the SoCon's all-time leader in passing yardage (11,615), having passed two-time Walter Payton Award winner Armanti Edwards of App State earlier this season. DeAndre Presley has been outstanding in replacing Edwards at App State and becoming a Payton Award candidate while leading the Mountaineers to their No. 1 ranking.
The Wofford-Georgia Southern showdown in Statesboro has an optimistic feel to it after both traditionally strong teams suffered losing records last season. Both are 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the SoCon, joining App State as the last unbeaten teams in conference play.
Each team runs the option, with Wofford ranking first in the SoCon in rushing yards per game (322.3) and Georgia Southern ranking second (273). Georgia Southern leads the conference in allowing only 84.3 rushing yards per game.
