Salukis lose another defensive back
Carbondale, IL (Sports Network) - Southern Illinois junior cornerback Nick King has become the fourth Salukis defensive back to be lost for the remainder of the season because of an injury.King suffered a knee injury in SIU's 38-17 win at No. 19 Illinois State on Oct. 2. He started the first five games at left cornerback, totaling 13 tackles and one pass breakup.
Junior safety Rashad Graham and sophomore corner James McFadden, both projected starters entering the year, suffered knee injuries in the preseason. Senior captain Mike McElroy had season-ending ankle surgery after SIU's second game of the season.
SIU (3-3, 2-1 Missouri Valley) is ranked 17th in The Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS Top 25. The Salukis will host South Dakota State on Saturday.
