Kelso Sturgeon has been a professional handicapper for 40 years and has a deep understanding of all facets of the game, be it football, basketball, baseball or horse racing. He's worked as a football scout in the SEC and studied under Hall of Fame coaches like Alabama's Bear Bryant, winner of five national titles and Hank Stram of the Kansas City Chiefs, who won the 1970 Super Bowl. He's been a Regional Sports Editor for the Associated Press, worked as a successful jockey agent and authored several books teaching people how to be a handicapper, including the bestseller, THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO SPORTS BETTING. Kelso also understands that to be a successful handicapper means knowing the business of gambling, and to that end he is personal friends with most of the big linesmakers in Las Vegas and gets the daily scoop on what is happening on the other side of the counter. There is no one better qualifed to be your personal handicapper than Kelso Sturgeon.

The Toreros (4-0) received all 28 first-place votes after beating the previously unbeaten Bulldogs on the road to open Pioneer Football League play. San Diego earned 21 first-place votes the previous week. Butler dropped from No. 6 to No. 9 with the loss.
Drake remained No. 2 after stopping Valparaiso 48-20 in another PFL opener.
A 42-35 loss to Morehead State didn't cost Dayton in the poll. The Flyers remained No. 3 despite the wild loss that cost them an undefeated record after four wins to open the season.
Previously unranked, Morehead State used the win to jump into the poll for the first time this season at No. 6.
Central Connecticut State had a bye, but moved up one spot to fourth while Robert Morris fell from fourth to fifth with a 40-13 loss to VMI.
Albany, which has played one of the toughest schedules in the country among mid-major teams, had an off week and stayed at No. 7.
Iona improved to 4-1 with a 30-10 victory over Stonehill and climbed from ninth to eighth in the poll.
Stony Brook fell from eighth to 10th despite nearly upsetting Hofstra, the No. 12 team in The Sports Network FCS Top-25 poll. Hofstra held on to beat Stony Brook 33-28.
The Sports Network FCS Mid-Major Top 10 poll includes the 20 programs of the MAAC, NEC, and Pioneer Leagues, which play at a non-scholarship or limited scholarship level. An updated poll, which is based on the votes of selected media members and FCS mid-major Sports Information Directors, is announced each Monday during the regular season.
