If You Think Handicapping NCAA Was Tough
Before, You Have Not Seen Anything Yet
As Sweet 16 Begins Thursday

By Kelso Sturgeon

The bettor’s battle to beat the NCAA Basketball Tournament has much in common with a heavyweight championship boxing match in which neither fighter can put away his opponent and a fight in which neither intends to throw in the towel, come hell or high water. It has been that way since March Madness 2015 began and will continue to be so.

This is a fight to the finish and anything can happen—and any of the Sweet 16 teams can win it.
If you think undefeated Kentucky (36-0) is going to have it easy, just remember another #1 seed, Villanova (33-3) was knocked out in the third round by 8th-seeded N.C. State, a 9.5-point underdog, 71-68. Let’s also remember #14 Georgia State (+9.5) upset #3 Baylor, 57-56, 7th-seeded Michigan State went #2 seeded Virginia packing, 60-54,and #7 seeded Wichita State beat #2 seed Kansas like an old rug, 78-65.
