There are so many unpredictable elements in play in handicapping tonight’s showdown game between the #7-ranked Oklahoma Sooners (1-0) and the #2-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes (1-0) one can get blue in the face trying to arrive at the winner. Both teams are loaded with blue-chip talent, game-breaking players, experienced defenses, tremendous quickness and speed on both sides of the ball and both know how to win.
On talent alone I could make a strong case for either team to win it but there is far more to the equation than that.
The game is the highlight of my 125-unit Sensational September Grand Slam, with each team being bet at the 25-unit level and then combined in a 4-team, 5-unit parlay.
At least three unknown factors must be addressed in handicapping Oklahoma at Ohio State.
1.The revenge factor. Ohio State took and young and inexperienced team into Norman last season and as a 1-point favorite dominated and the embarrassed the Oklahoma Sooners, 45-24, and made it look easy. For certain, the Sooners have not forgotten that.
2.The coaching factor. Ohio State coach Urban Meyer, already a college football legend, has gone 61-6 in his first five seasons in Columbus, has won three national championships—two at Florida and one at Ohio State. He has a lifetime record of 169-29.
The man in charge at Oklahoma is 34-year-old Lincoln Riley who was elevated to the head coaching job In Norman after two seasons as offensive coordinator when Bob Stoops stepped down. He is considered an offensive genius and has a life-time head coaching record of 1-0.
3.Then there is the issue of the home field bias at Ohio Stadium (The Horse Shoe) which seats 104,944. Meyer is 34-2 at home for his first five seasons and the losses came by 3-points by Michigan State in 2015 and a 14-point loss to Virginia Tech in 2014. This is the first road game Riley has ever coached as the top dog.
Top football teams can overcome anything and win and both teams qualify as just that. Ohio State is a 7.5 favorite and that number presents the biggest challenge of the day. Do we lay the 7.5 with the Buckeyes, or do we take the +7.5 with Oklahoma.
I believe I have the answer to that and you can find out what it is Saturday morning.
As noted the big Saturday night game is the highlight of my 125-unit Sensational September Grand Slam, with each team being bet at the 25-unit level and then combined in a 4-team, 5-unit parlay.
The Teams (Home Teams In CAPS With Current Betting Lines)
- PENN STATE (1-0) -21.5 over Pittsburgh (1-0)
- TCU (1-0) -3 over ARKANSAS (1-0)
- NOTRE DAME (1-0) -5 over Georgia (1-0)

I have the edges to win them all and believe I will do just that on a bookie busting Saturday.

The Rest Of Saturday’s Football Betting Menu
There was a time in football betting history that anytime a betting line was just too good to be true the pros and sharps knew it was a trap and a game to be left to the suckers. I am of the opinion that situation no longer exists and bookmakers and linemakers, as sharp as they are, make a ton of mistakes during the course of the season. I have just seen to many bad numbers over the past 3-4 years that do not reflect reality.
Of course, these games present unusual opportunities to make major scores and there are precisely nine of them on the Saturday college schedule and I am releasing it as my 50-unit College Football Game of the Week. Just forget how this team performed in in first game last week and step up and fire. We have all the edges, plus a very favorable line, in this one and you can win it with me for just $50, charged to your major credit card or to Pay Pal.
Rock-Solid Bounce-Back Team Tops 3-0 Best Bets Day
There Were A Dozen Or So Teams That Lost On The Opening Weekend Despite Playing Well And Should Bounce Right Back And Win Today
I am not one who tries to kid anybody. My Best Bets Football Club had a bad opening Saturday but bounced right back on Sunday and Monday with winning covers by Texas A&M (+6.5) in a 45-44 loss at UCLA and then with Georgia Tech (+4) in a 42-41 loss to Tennessee and I assure the winning continues today.
I am releasing three games today to my Best Bets Football Club, with the highlight play being a 15-unit wager on a decent football team that just could not get it done this past Saturday. This team should bounce right back and find the winner’s circle.
Win this 15-unit Best Bets Football Club play, plus two additional 10-unit bets, for just $15, charged to your major credit card or to Pay Pal. Better yet, get on board for the entire Best Bets Club season for just $199 and receive 6-7 knockout college and NFL winners every week.
Biggest wiseguy move in college football came Friday afternoon when sharps jumped all over Wisconsin (1-0) against Florida Atlantic (0-1), driving the number from the Badgers -31.5 to -33.
In other major line moves…
- TCU (1-0) at Arkansas (1-0) went from the Razorbacks -1.5 to TCU -3.
- Mississippi State (1-0) went from -7 to -10 at Louisiana Tech (1-0)
- Utah (1-0) at BYU (1-1) went from being 1-point dog to a -2.5 favorite.
These games have been cancelled or rescheduled because of Hurricane Irma and will not be played this weekend…
- South Florida at Connecticut
- Miami-FL at Arkansas State
- UL-Monroe at Florida State
- Memphis at Central Florida
Obviously it is extremely important to check the weather at the site of any game you wish to bet. It’s your job. Do it.
