Week’s Record To 6-1-1 In Unpredictable NFL

Two More Starting Quarterbacks Go Down

While Chicago Bears Beat Listless Cam and Panthers

With Just 5 First Downs And 153 Yards Of Offense

By Kelso Sturgeon

NFL bettors are beginning to doubt themselves almost to the point of panic while bookmakers appear lost in making betting lines in a season far beyond bizarre in the outcome of many games. Little was more stunning this past week than the underdog Chicago Bears (+3) upset of the Carolina Panthers 17-3 while recording just five first downs and 153 yards of offense. Impossible, you say? Well, not quite.

On another challenging weekend that saw the favorites go 12-3 straight up (SU) and 8-4-2 against the spread (ATS) bookmakers still won money from a public that devotes its bucks to favorites. They were all over the Panthers and the Tennessee Titans (-6) over the winless Cleveland Browns who covered in overtime in a 12-9 loss. By the way, with an oddity as unexplainable as the Bears win was the fact there was not a single touchdown scored in the Titans-Browns game, with all 21 points coming on seven field goals.

The fact I am having a very decent NFL season, and went 6-1-1 this past week, including two 50-unit winners, says I must be doing something right but I can tell you I have never spent so much time or worked any harder than I have this season. Successfully zigging and zagging in the right spots tells my story. The Take From  Last Week’s NFL Games…

--The Arizona Cardinals (3-4) suffered a double loss in England. First of all, they fell to the Los Angeles Rams (5-2) 33-0 and lost quarterback Carson Palmer, probably for the season, with a broken arm. Veteran Drew Stanton will start when the Cardinals resume play next week. They have a bye this weekend.

--The Miami Dolphins (4-2) beat the New York Jets 31-28 but lost quarterback Jay Cutler indefinitely with cracked ribs. Matt Moore, a seasoned veteran, will be under center this Thursday night when the Dolphins play at struggling Baltimore (3-4). He came on in relief against the Jets and completed 13-of-21 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns, with one interception.

--It is of note three teams—the Indianapolis Colts (2-5), New York Giants (1-6) and the fading Denver Broncos (3-3) did not score a single point and that is quite an unusual scenario for the offensive-minded NFL.

--The Cleveland Browns, 0-7 this season, are now 1-22 SU in their last 23 games and are 6-17 ATS.

--Not on the knock but my eyes tell me Carolina quarterback Cam Newton is playing despite and undisclosed injury or simply is not in it this year. He threw two more interceptions against the Bears and appeared lifeless.

--By the way, the Bears win explained: Chicago beat Carolina on the strength of two defensive touchdowns, both by rookie safety Eddie Jackson who scored on a 75-yard fumble return and a 76-yard interception.

--The Colts continue to struggle without starting quarterback Andrew Luck (shoulder) and there is talk in the Indianapolis camp about shutting him down or the rest of the season. He is yet to play a down this year.

--Almost unnoticed was the injury to Cleveland offensive tackle Joe Thomas (torn triceps) that will end his season and end his amazing string of playing for 10,363 straight snaps. Loss of the all-pro, who is bound for the Hall of Fame, will absolutely hurt whatever offensive attack the Browns have.

World Series Begins Tonight With Power Play Winner

Dodgers Are Solid Favorites To Win World Series

And Are -170 Favorites To Beat Houston

Tonight But Will Have To Overcome Astros Best Shot

The World Series begins tonight in Los Angeles where the National League champion Dodgers (111-59) meet the American League champion Houston Astros (108-65) in game one of the best-of-7 round. The series will be played on a 2-3-2 format. This is Houston’s first every trip to the World Series and Los Angeles’ first since 1988 when they beat the Oakland Athletics 4-games-to-1.

Bookmakers have installed Los Angeles as the -140 favorite and made the underdog Astros +120. That means bettors who like the Dodgers to win the championship must lay $140 to win $100 while those who bet Houston can collect $120 for each $100 wagered. The Dodgers are -170 to win the first game.

Pitching for Los Angeles will be ace left-hander Clayton Kershaw (20-4, 2.43) while Houston will counter with the very talented left, Dallas Keuchel (16-6 2.87). Kershaw is 2-0 with an ERA of 3.63 in this post season while Keuchel is 2-1, with an ERA of 2.60. In short, the opener appears to have all the makings of a pitching duel between two of the best.

I had a very decent run through the regular baseball season and followed that up with success in the playoffs and intend to keep right on winning in the World Series. You can purchase my World Series Package for just $39, or play by the day for $15. Sign up now on this website or toll free at 1-800-755-2255 and starting winning tonight.
