NFL Saturday Preseason Previews

Jets Win Pushes NFL Record To 3-1…Another Winner Tonight

It May Be Just Week #1 In NFL Preseason But My Insiders Say One Of Tonight’s Two Games Will Be A Blowout

I told you my goal for the NFL preseason was to put $2,000 in your pocket to carry you into the regular college and NFL season and I am certainly off to a nice start—standing 3-1 in my first four releases with the only losing following a half-point short. I intend to add another winner to that tonight.

There are just two games on the schedule tonight—the Minnesota Vikings at the Denver Broncos (On NFL TV Network) and the Los Angeles Chargers at the Arizona Cardinals—and I have solid inside  information from some sharp NFL insiders who say one of these teams will win in a blowout. Never discount inside information in the preseason because it is a necessary element of winning.

I released the New York Jets (-4) over the Atlanta Falcons and won that one, 17-0, with information not available to many outsiders. It also was of note the sharps were so involved in this game their bets drove the number from Jets -1 to Jets -4. Pay attention, my friend. Information and big line moves often open the door to winning.

As noted I opened the official NFL preseason 3-1, just missing a perfect 4-0 run by a half-point. Please keep in mind you can get the entire NFL preseason, plus daily baseball best bets FREE. Details below.

Winning in the NFL preseason—something I have done for 11 of the past 13 seasons—is founded on inside information, game plans, coach’s records and quarterback rotations. It is as simple as that—and that is where I find myself for Week #1 of the preseason, armed with all the information and insight it takes to win three games.

The NFL Preseason Week 1 menu wraps up with a pair of games on this Saturday night card - it's Minnesota at Denver on NFL Network and the Los Angeles Chargers at Arizona - before getting Sunday "off"

Here on this Saturday night, it's ...

MINNESOTA at DENVER - 9 p.m. ET, NFL Network
Juicy quarterback storylines for this interconference clash in the Mile High City ... of course. Minnesota inked $84 million man Kirk Cousins from the Washington Redskins and his backup is former Denver starter Trevor Siemian. On the flip side, the Broncos are keeping fingers crossed that Case Keenum - last year's hero with the Vikings - can finally lend some stability to this all-important position, or do you wish for us to list all the guys that have tried their luck at quarterback for exec John Elway since Peyton Manning's Broncos won Super Bowl 50 just two-and-a-half years ago? Hey, one other thing: The Broncos drafted OLB/DE Bradley Chubb in Round One and his versatility and ability to rush the passer will be on trial here against Cousins, Siemian and Company.
Current Line: Broncos - 1 and 36 points

Lots of folks are all geeked up when it comes to the here-and-now LA Chargers - are they are legit threat win the AFC West? Okay, so there's no question the Chargers need to bone up their rushing attack (ranked 23rd in the NFL last year) and their rush defense (ranked 30th) and so with that in mind we'll be paying extra-close attention to RBs Melvin Gordon and new second-stringer Austin Ekeler who averaged a haughty 5.5 yards a carry and scored five touchdowns on just 74 "touches". On the flip side, all eyes on Arizona rookie QB Josh Rosen (UCLA) who - like Cleveland's Baker Mayfield and the New York Jets' Sam Darnold - will get plenty of reps here in this Preseason Week 1 affair. Rosen likely will come into the game after starter Sam Bradford plays one or two series. And don't forget Tampa Bay / Chicago castoff Mike Glennon is slated to see time at QB as well.
Current Line: Cardinals - 2.5 and 36.5 points

In Friday night NFL Preseason Week 1 play ...

The Oakland Raiders covered the 3.5-point price in a 16-10 win against Detroit as Jon Gruden made his "coaching return" with a win but the best part of the night is when Gruden went wacko following a holding penalty of rookie LT Kolton Miller that nullified a cat-quick 60-yard touchdown run by RB Marshawn Lynch just moments into the game. Lynch, however, wasn't the Raiders' biggest story at running back as Chris Warren III - an undrafted free agent - rambled loose for 86 yards rushing on 13 carries and how about the fact that new kicker Eddy Pineiro boomed field goals of 45 and 48 yards to go along with a 21-yarder in the opening quarter. Sebastian Who? ...

On the East Coast, the New York Jets (- 4) blistered the Atlanta Falcons 17-0 thus marking the first time in Jets' history they threw a preseason home shutout - or don't you care about that little nugget? Okay, so by far the biggest story in this exhibition game was the fact that aforementioned QB Darnold looked great while completing 13-of-18 passes for 96 yards including a 14-yard scoring strike to Charles Johnson right before halftime. It's true that many of Darnold's completions were short/safe stuff designed to give the draft's No. 3 overall pick some early confidence but he did show some toughness after getting his left/non-throwing hand stepped on with one scramble play and looked off primary receivers a couple of times to make accurate throws on the opposite side of the field. The truth is former Minnesota QB Teddy Bridgewater - who came in after a cameo by starter Josh McCown - looked even better while completing 7-of-8 passes for 85 yards with one touchdown fling. Bridgewater snapped off four or five really strong completions and note he led the Jets to 10 points on his two drives while first playing behind the team's starting O-line and then getting FG after operating behind second-string offensive linemen ...

Pointspread Note - NFL Betting Favorites are now 5-7 ATS (against the spread) with two Pick 'Em games tossed into the mix here in Preseason Week 1 action. Overall, a note for "totals" players out there: Overs are 9-5 vig-wise this week and 9-6 ATS overall while including last week's "under" in the Hall of Fame Game.
