Thursday NFL Preview and College Streakers

Maybe you've checked it out already but "if the season was to end today" than the #1 and #2 seeds in the NFC would be the Los Angeles Rams and the New Orleans Saints, respectively; in the AFC they'd be the Kansas City Chiefs and then the tie-break winner between New England/Miami/Cincinnati/Baltimore.

Note that nowhere up above is there any mention of the Denver Broncos - the Super Bowl winner just three seasons ago and a proud franchise that's won six post-season games in the past seven years.

On this NFL Week 7 Thursday Nighter, it's strictly an S.O.S. game for the Broncs (2-4) who have lost four in a row SU (straight-up) and enter this prime-time desert clash with a really rotten 1-4-1 ATS (against the spread) record ... ugh.

You could say it's also an S.O.S. game for the host Arizona Cardinals (1-5) too although the Redbirds probably were dead before they knew what hit 'em here in this here-and-now '18 campaign - the NFC West crew started off the year at 0-4 SU amid a punch-less offense and over-his head new coach (see Steve Wilks) and so they get center stage on this October night:

DENVER (2-4) at ARIZONA (1-5) - 8:20 p.m. ET, Fox
Hard to believe but this Broncos' defense ranks dead-last in the NFL in rush defense (161.3 yards per game allowed) while the home-town Cardinals are 32nd and dead-last in the league in rushing offense (just 64 ypg) ... talk about the immovable offense against the show-no-resistance defense! Maybe this one'll come down to whether or not Arizona rookie QB Josh Rosen (626 yards passing with 2 TDs, 2 INTs and sacked seven times) can avoid pass-rushers Von Miller and rookie Bradley Chubb here.
Spread Stats - Denver is a dismal 1-11 versus the vig in its last dozen away games dating back to late in the 2016 season; Arizona is a dead-even 3-3 against the odds so far this season and overall the Cards are 8-15 ATS when playing non-divisional foes.
