I attribute my longevity and success as a public sports  handicapper to understanding and accepting the realities of battling and surviving in a most challenging arenas to my own two—and only two—universal rules of the business. First, as a handicapper one can do everything right and still lose and second, there is an exception to every rule. Understand and accept these two rules and you will keep a level head and should be on your way to the smiling line.

It has always been a temptation to add a third rule—that there are a thousand ways to lose and just one way to win but it has thus far not made the cut.
